Position Salary: $ 54,300.00 per year

 

Under the administrative direction of the Senior Director and Director of Student Success and Financial Aid Counseling, the Assistant Director of Campus Financial Aid Service and Counseling is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations and service delivery of assigned staff and counseling teams. This role supports the university's mission and goals, along with the objectives for Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, by ensuring a student-centered financial aid experience for new and continuing ASU students. The Assistant Director collaborates with financial aid colleagues to promote efficiency, accuracy, and exceptional service, while adhering to institutional and financial aid policies and procedures. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that ASU students receive timely and accurate financial aid services, contributing to their academic success and overall university experience.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Plan, direct, and oversee the activities and operations of staff, student worker and counseling teams ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate assigned staff and counseling team members fostering a supportive and high-performance work environment.
  • Regularly use Excel and other data tools to pull reports, review trends, and synthesize data for operational and compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with internal financial aid partners to set priorities, ensure timely training, and maintain service and processing responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures while maintaining high service standards.
  • Collaborate with financial aid leadership and stakeholders to ensure smooth administration and technical implementation of ASU financial aid programs.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Student Success and Financial Aid Counseling and colleagues to set and achieve production and service benchmarks.
  • Develop short- and long-term goals for production quality and service standards.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience using large language models, including effective prompt generation to support analysis, efficiency, and operational tasks. Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in automated processing. Experience in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy (FERPA) requirements.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of government, donor and/or institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for awarding of financial aid.
